Canterbury is New Zealand's most diverse ski region. Mt Hutt is one of New Zealand's top commercial ski areas and then there are a number of smaller club fields. Canterbury's ski fields can easily be reached from Christchurch as it is only one hour’s drive. Mount Hutt Ski Area is nestled high inside the eastern rim of the Southern Alps, and receives some of the deepest and lightest powder in Australasia. With spectacular views of the Canterbury Plains and the Pacific Ocean in the distance, skiers and snowboarders from all round the world come here to revel in the longest season in the Southern hemisphere and enjoy the great selection of runs for beginners and experts alike.
